Why does the carrier matter?
Most carriers accept a standard VICS bill of lading, but each has its own conventions that streamline pickup — the right SCAC code, a PRO-number field formatted to their tracking digits, and any carrier-specific notes (sealed-trailer rules, appointment requirements, hazmat handling). Picking the template for your carrier pre-fills those fields and cuts the back-and-forth at the dock.
